These testosterone-fueled
bands aren't just for the guys
(by Justin Kendall, October 2001 issue)
In Adema's case, the seed doesn't fall far from the Korn stalk. The brooding nu-metal
group's front man, Mark "Marky" Chavez, is Jonathan Davis' little bro. Though
Mark admits his bloodline helped catch the attention of record labels, he's adamant that
hsi band won't stand in anyone's shadow. "We sound a lot different. Korn is a bit
heavier than we are. We're more melodic rock," he says. Headbangers got to preview
tracks from the foursome's self-titled debut album during Adema's summer tour with Staind
and Disturbed. "Every day I wake up, I don't know who I'm going to meet, what I'm
going to see or whose path I might cross," says Mark. "It's a nonstop
adventure." |
